The MountainsThe mountains looked like a woman that evening, sleek, slender in the dying sun. There she lay where the mountain range once stood: her gentle head rested comfortably on a pillow; her hair tossed in curls wherever they fall; her small, soft breasts exposed, waiting for the touch of twilight; her round, plump stomach carrying the child of the earth, a child waiting to be released from those wave-like legs that stretch on down the road for miles. I almost thought I heard her speak then, when all was quiet. I don’t know what she said or if she said anything at all, but if she did, I’m sure it was for me.The Mountains

What Took You So Long?We drove along the 94, my father and I, driving 50 miles an hour even though the sign said we could go 60. We drove in silence, not saying a word to each other since we entered the car. It was the late afternoon but the sun shone as if to say no, it will be day, at least for a little while longer.
